X Factor boss Simon Cowell, 60, has broken his silence after he was rushed to hospital on Sunday following suffering a broken back during a serious accident. He crashed his electric bike crash in Malibu and underwent a gruelling six hours of surgery where he “narrowly avoided paralysis”.
“Some good advice…” he began.
“If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back.
He added: “Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.”
“Wow take care of yourself,” one wrote.
“Hope you feel better soon Simon!” a second added.
A third prayed: “Praying for your speedy recovery!”
Reports of the music mogul’s injury broke yesterday after he fell while testing his new bike with his son Eric.
Simon was rushed to the Providence Saint John’s hospital in Santa Monica as a spokesman for the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent boss said at the time: “Simon has broken his back in a number of places in a fall from his bike whilst testing a new electric bike in the courtyard of his home in Malibu with his family.”
A source also told The Mirror: “I spoke to him before the surgery and he was in incredible, ridiculous amounts of pain and also in shock.
“His back was broken in several places, but he is actually very lucky. He fell flat on his back and the doctors say the impact missed his spinal cord by about a centimetre and it could have been a lot, lot more serious.”
They explained he was in surgery for “six hours” and they had to put a “metal rod” in his back and “fix a number of things”.
They continued: “He is recovering in hospital now and we expect him to be there for a few days and then he will take things from there.
“It is too early to say when he will be back on TV.”
Other sources claimed he was “in a bad way” after the fall and is “lucky” not to have faced permanent paralysis.
She shared a sweet snap of her with “dear friend” Simon, captioning the post: “I’ve been thinking about my dear friend all day and luckily I’m able to say (with blessing) that he’s had his operation and he’s doing really well.
“Chris Lexi Hollie and me wish you a speedy recovery and send you, Lauren and Eric all our love,” alongside a heart emoji.
