Peaky Blinders season six has already faced a number of delays so far, including the postponing of filming indefinitely. Now more information is beginning to be released, Express.co.uk has rounded up everything known about season six so far, from its new cast to its potential release date.
When is Peaky Blinders season 6 out?
The sixth season of Peaky Blinders has not yet been given an official release date on the BBC.
When season five came out back in August 2019, it was suggested by the show’s director Anthony Byrne the new series would be out in early 2021.
This was because production was set to begin in March 2020 before it was postponed in the wake of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
Filming has not been able to begin again since but there are hopes it will start up in the next few months.
The latest update on when it might be out came from Byrne in an interview with Digital Spy.
During this, he revealed they are working to filming in early next year which means the show could be delayed until 2022 as a result of the pandemic.
He said: “That feels achievable. Whether that’s true or not, I have no idea.
“If we did start shooting in January we wouldn’t finish until May or June and then it’s another six months of editing.”
As soon as an actual release date is announced, Express.co.uk will update this article.
What will happen in Peaky Blinders season 6?
Fans will remember how season five ended on a cliffhanger with Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) holding a gun to his head.
According to Byrne, this will be how the new series will pick up in season six.
He told Digital Spy: “It picks up directly. So, the very first image you will see will be back in that field.
“Tommy, with a gun to his head. Then, we will move on from there, we resolve that amazing moment – it’s great.”
Viewers will also be hoping to find out who actually betrayed him and scuppered his plans to kill Mosley.
The series writer Steven Knight has also revealed there will be a time jump going into the next season as well.
He told NME: “In series six, we’ll be looking at 1934 and things are worse.
“The drum beat is getting louder, tensions are worse and Tommy is right in the middle of all that.
“Again, it will be an exploration of what was going on in the ’30s and how certain things transpired.”
