Claire’s (played by Caitriona Bale) husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) was shocked when he saw a mysterious highlander watching his wife get dressed at their hotel window in the very first episode of Outlander. It was later revealed the man was a ghost and it belonged to Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). Fans know Jamie meets Claire when she travels back in time but no explanation has been given as to how he managed to make it to the 20th Century.
There have been hundreds of theories about Jamie’s ghost but now one fan has suggested it’s not a ghost but in fact an astral projection.
They believe it will soon be revealed that Jamie has a power and it has already been revealed in a hat clue.
The fan shared on Reddit: “Some things to keep in mind about the ghost is his hat.
“We see Jamie with that hat when he is Red Jamie being hunted by the blokes and only then.
“That means he must have astral projected himself into Claire’s past while hiding out in the woods or maybe he went to Culloden during that time and had a near physical time travel episode or something.”
Another fan agreed, adding: “I thought about the hat too! I think he also wore one in one of the first episodes in S1, though.
“During a horse riding. So Idk if it was a planned detail or just to add to the look.”
Someone else chipped in to note there were hints that Jamie has powers in season two when Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) was introduced.
Speaking with Gold Derby, Sam touched on the moment when Jamie almost died in season five after a snake bite.
However, he also hinted this wasn’t the first time Jamie took his last breath as he referenced Culloden.
Talking about how Jamie made the decision not to die but stay with Claire, Sam shared: “It’s great and I mean, to see Jamie at the end, he chose to come back.
“He chose to come back for Claire because he loves her but it’s probably the second time that Jamie has come this close to death.
