Kyle Canning (Chris Milligan) has been hit by hurdle after hurdle since the beginning of the year on Neighbours, having bid farewell to his girlfriend Amy Williams (Zoe Crammond) back in January. The young craftsman also bid farewell to his father Gary Canning (Damien Richardson), who was mercilessly killed by Channel 5 soap villain Finn Kelly (Rob Mills) in March. Since then, he has been trying to help Sheila Canning (Colette Mann) through her grief to the detriment of his own feelings. This has led him to struggle with relationships and after a visit to the island where his parent was killed in recent scenes, he seems to be struggling more than ever. However, with his no-nonsense grandmother hiding a big family secret, could his discovery of what she’s been hiding be the catalyst to make him leave Ramsay Street?
Sheila has played a big part in ensuring her grandson hasn’t been able to make a proper go of things with his love interest, Roxy Willis (Zima Anderson).
The pair first slept together on the island where Gary was killed and because the youngster has failed to address his grief, they struggled to form a relationship.
After moving on with someone at a grief support group, Kyle soon realised he wanted to make a go of things with the barmaid.
His grandmother had other plans and set up a fake internet dating profile for him, only to derail her grandson’s chances of romance once again.
Recent scenes have shown his cousin Levi Canning (Richie Morris) become another hurdle in the young lovers coming together when he kissed Roxy during a night out at The Waterhole.
It’s the newcomer who could go on to spark an exit storyline for the beloved character as Sheila is keeping some vital information about Levi’s past from him. Could the secrecy be too much for Kyle to bear?
Viewers have watched as Sheila has shown unease about Frank Canning Junior’s son arriving in Erinsborough, with the matriarch showing concern about the newcomer moving into the Canning household.
Next week, her partner Clive Gibbons (Geoff Paine) will press her about why she is so unwilling to accept her grandson.
Unable to keep her secret any more, the boys’ grandmother reveals how she and Kyle seem to both be keeping something from Levi – although the police officer’s cousin doesn’t realise what he might have done.
Before telling the newcomer, Gary’s mother could be forced to tell her son’s eldest child about something which happened in his past with his cousin.
Chris continued: “After his dad dying and his gran behaving like that, there is always drama going on, so it would be nice for it all to become too much for him and for him to struggle with it.
“It has been a depressing year for the guy, it would make sense for him,” he continued, but could this be teasing an exit for the beloved character?
This would certainly put a stop to anything he has going on with Roxy as the pair take the next step in their relationship next week.
As he tries to get his head around his love interest kissing his cousin, the young lovers ending up having a heart-to-heart about their feelings for one another.
