They continued: “Maurice loved nothing more than being on set with his fellow actors and rocked right up until the end, recently being seen in the BBC series The Nest at the start of this year.
“As well as being a truly dedicated and gifted actor, he was also a real gentleman and a delight to have as a client.
“We will miss him greatly and our thoughts and love go out to Vaness and his family.”
While it has not been confirmed how the actor died, many waded in to express their deepest condolences on Twitter this morning.
“He was 83 and lived his life well.”
Maurice also played the character of Geoff in EastEnders, the father of Kate Morton, who was played by Jill Halfpenny.
The BBC star married Vanessa Rawlings-Jackson in 2001.
Aside from EastEnders, Maurice’s television performances also included the likes of The Sweeney, The New Statesman and Skins.
