Netflix continues its dating output with Love On The Spectrum which sees young adults on the autism spectrum trying to find romance. The five-part series is similar to Channel 4’s Undateables which sees singletons with disabilities trying to find a partner. Express.co.uk has everything you need to know about the new series.
Where is Love On The Spectrum filmed?
Love On The Spectrum was recently released on Netflix and follows the journeys of romantic hopefuls with autism looking for love.
The series has been filmed in Australia and features a range of young single people with dreams of finding the one.
Filmmaker Cian O’Clery spoke to publication Fast Company about the process of filming the show.
O’Clery, who hails from Australia, chose the nation because of the lack of support for people with autism searching for a romantic partner.

The director and his team contacted various autism organisations in the coutry to find singletons willing to take part in the series.
He explained: “We were kind of like a support for them in that they weren’t stepping out into that world on their own.
“Psychologists who work with people on the spectrum also spoke to me about this and said that us being there could actually be an advantage in that we are helping them to take the first step into this world that is so daunting.”
He warned how there wasn’t a “one-size-fits-all” approach to autism and how there was a variety of people on the spectrum.
O’Clery said the singletons were selected on the basis of those who wanted the cameras to tell their stories.
He was clear Love On The Spectrum was not a show where people were cast as characters like perhaps other dating shows.
The filmmaker told The Wrap: “The number one thing I hope people will get from the series is that they’ll understand more about autism.
“We’re telling autistic stories via the lens of dating and relationships, but really, it’s about getting to know these people and understanding the diversity of autism and the fact that everyone is so different.
The show shines a light on those with autism and seeks to dispel myths about the neurological disorder.
Love On The Spectrum shows how all people seek love regardless of the disorder.
For instance, 25-year-old Michael states early on his desire to become a husband, often comparing himself to his brother who doesn’t have autism.
The show sees Michael embarking on his first date with the help of the crew.
