Eamonn Holmes, 60, and Ruth Langsford, 60, were on hand to host This Morning today as they take over from Phillip Schofield, 59, and Holly Willoughby, 39, for the summer. To kickstart the show, the pair called on some lucky viewers to play Spin to Win, with cash prizes and family holidays on offer. The viewer who got through and answered the phone with the correct code word was in shock as they’d just got out the shower. However, those watching at home were even more aghast when the ITV presenter seemed to request the contestant send in a picture of herself.
After winning £1,000 in cash, Ruth revealed the caller could win herself a bag of goodies if she answered another question correctly.
It was all related to a discussion the presenters were having earlier in the show when they explained Richard Madeley, 64, and Judy Finnigan, 72, would be joining them on the sofa.
The contestant said: “You’ll have to help me because I haven’t been watching the show,” but eventually she made the correct guess.
“Look you can go and dry yourself off now,” Ruth told her, to which Eamonn could be heard joking: “Send us a picture.”
Caller Kelly didn’t hear what the host said, but viewers took to social media in uproar over his request.
One viewer wrote: “Did man Eammon just ask for a nude of Kelly? #ThisMorning,” to which a second asked: “Did anyone else hear Eamonn ask her to send a photo, or was I hearing things? #ThisMorning.”
A third commented: “#ThisMorning did Eamonn really just say send us a picture!!!” whilst a fourth remarked: “Did Eamonn just tell the woman in a towel to send a picture? #ThisMorning.”
“Woman wins money, she says ‘I’ve just come out of the shower’ Eamonn Holmes responds ‘send us a photo’ #ThisMorning,” a fourth commented.
“#ThisMorning aww bless Eamonn it’s just so cringy!” a fifth shared.
The husband and wife duo will be hosting proceedings from Monday to Thursday but will be taking the day off on Fridays.
In their place will be a whole host of familiar faces and first up is former The Saturday’s star Rochelle Humes, 31, and former Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba, 34.
Following their stint together, the fashionista will then be joined by X Factor host Dermot O’Leary, 47.
Alison Hammond, 45, will also be joining the presenting line-up, hosting a show with both Rochelle and Dermot individually.
Speaking of hosting the programme in light of the coronavirus lockdown, Eamonn said: “It’s set to be a very different summer for us all, so we hope that here on This Morning we can continue to provide some sense of normality… and lots of craziness of course!
“We’ll do our very best to keep you posted and up to date with life during the next seven weeks,” he added.
Ruth explained: “Like many viewers at home, I’ve finally had my hair done (hurrah!) and am ready to face the summer, literally head-on!
“Come and join us for a cosy cuppa on the This Morning sofa each weekday throughout July and August.”
