Silver-haired bats often roost in tree cavities or in bark crevices on tree trunks, especially during migration. Their unique coloration makes them difficult to find. Most recent human rabies deaths have been due to a strain of rabies associated with this species. People often know when they ve been bitten by a bat, but most types of bats have very small teeth which may leave marks that disappear quickly. If you are bitten by a bat — or if infectious material such as saliva or brain material if it is killed from a bat gets into your eyes, nose, mouth, or a wound — wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water and get medical advice immediately. Whenever possible, the bat should be captured and sent to a laboratory for rabies testing. People can t get rabies just from seeing a bat in an attic, in a cave, at summer camp, or from a distance while it is flying. In addition, people can t get rabies from having contact with bat guano feces , blood, or urine, or from touching a bat on its fur. If you think your pet has been bitten by a bat, contact a veterinarian or your health department for assistance immediately and have the bat tested for rabies.
You Were Dead, You Know lyrics
What if you’re not sure?
The child you love so much and have sacrificed for in so many ways now hates you. These words leave parents feeling a combination of hurt, anger, and resentment. Parents will naturally think to themselves:. How dare you speak to me that way! When you take it personally, it often leads to a big emotional reaction from you which reinforces the bad behavior. Not being able to handle his problems leads your child to feelings of discomfort—and pushing your buttons and getting a strong emotional reaction from you helps to make up for those feelings of discomfort. Some kids also say hurtful things as a means of trying to get what they want.
What Hurtful Words Really Mean
Above all else, Candide is a satire. Voltaire was satirizing the idea of optimism and while the libretto for the show stays close to the plot of the novella, Bernstein has added another layer of satire to the mix. Simply put, the score for Candide is written as a parody of high opera. Many famous arias end with cadenzas. Bernstein has taken an already ornate vocal idea and complicated it by adding a second voice. And in the process he pokes fun at the operatic tradition by having Candide and Cundegonde suddenly crescendo and decrescendo in a fashion that is suitably dramatic for these two over-the-top characters. The melody is all romance somehow even as it mocks operatic styles. But if you stop to listen, the lyrics by Richard Wilbur and John Latouche are incredibly funny.
Candide is an operetta with music composed by Leonard Bernstein , based on the novella of the same name by Voltaire. The primary lyricist was the poet Richard Wilbur. Maurice Peress and Hershy Kay contributed orchestrations. Although unsuccessful at its premiere, Candide has now overcome the unenthusiastic reaction of early audiences and critics and achieved more popularity. It is used in some music schools as a student show because of the quality of its music and the opportunities it offers to student singers. Candide was originally conceived by Lillian Hellman as a play with incidental music in the style of her previous work, The Lark. Bernstein, however, was so excited about this idea that he convinced Hellman to do it as a "comic operetta"; she then wrote the original libretto for the operetta. Hershy Kay orchestrated all but the overture , which Bernstein did himself. The premiere production was directed by Tyrone Guthrie and conducted by Samuel Krachmalnick.
