Coronation Street viewers may have been relieved to see that Yasmeen Metcalfe (played by Shelley King) made a friend in prison while she’s on trial for the attempted murder of her abusive husband Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew). But some think there’s something not quite right about their friendship and are beginning to believe Lucie (Nicola Duffett) is up to no good.
Last week, she struck up a conversation with her fellow inmate after the two found common ground over their abusive relationships.
Lucie provided her with a mobile phone and a book on coercive control, persuading Yasmeen to take back some power and confront Geoff.
Later, Lucie becomes more of a support to her new friend, as Geoff tries to worm his way back into her affections by dropping the assault charges and forgiving her for lashing out at him.
While she speaks to her beastly husband with the encouragement of Lucie, fans believe she may have ulterior movies for getting closer to the wronged grandmother.
But speaking to Geoff might not be such a good idea as he sees it as an opportunity to get back what he almost lost – Yasmeen.
Talking about getting back together, Yasmeen was helpless as he promised “things would be different” this time around.
She whelped: “How could you be that deluded Geoff?”
“Even if I were to be released, and it’s a huge if, how can we find a way back together again?”
And soon enough his manipulative streak reared its ugly head again as he told her he loved her and that he was going to get “professional help,” even though she struggled to believe him.
Blaming his issues on Tim’s mum Tessa, he said: “I’m sorry, I’m sorry for not being what you deserve.”
Fans hope Yasmeen won’t fall for his lies again, but could she be plotting something of her own on the sly to get back at her evil husband?
Is this how she finally gets justice?
In a total twist, what if Lucie is actually helping Yasmeen to set Geoff up to fall?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm on ITV.
